Furnace Creek 508: A 2D and 3D Tour of the Race Course
Here is the profile from Amboy to the finish: mile 455 to 508. That final hump is Sheep Hole Summit at mile 480. Beyond that is "Wonder Valley" where you'll bee-line for the finish. I think this overrates the difficulty of that final stretch, but then again, I drive it in a car. (Comment from Dog on that comment: "There certainly are 1000 feet of climbing between the base of the Sheephole descent and the finish. Now, that's stretched over 20 miles, so I suppose it doesn't seem like a climb where you are there. That's less than 1% average. And, as you know, the profile exaggerates the vertical compared to the horizontal. In a car, you'd hardly notice 1%, I'd bet, and on a bike it probably just feels like you are just a little slow, especially at that point in the course. But, there certainly is a climb there.")
