Event: Furnace Creek 508 bicycle race
Date: The race is always held in October every year, usually, but not always the second weekend. (2006 is the 23rd anniversary event and will be held October 7-9, 2006.)
Where: Santa Clarita to Death Valley to Twenty Nine Palms, CA.
-508 mile distance.
-35,000 feet of total cumulative elevation gain.
Who: Up to 150 bicycle racers from across the States, Canada, Europe, and Asia.
Why: To challenge themselves in the world's toughest single stage open bicycle race. To experience an unparallelel spiritual odyssey.
Details: 508 mile non-stop bicycle race. No drafting or riding in packs allowed.
-Solo, tandem, relay team, and HPV categories.
-48 hour time limit for solo racers; 46 hour time limit for relay teams.
