It’s the best way to describe the giant black pickup truck serving rider Rob “Humpback Whale” Harris of Denver, Colorado. Riding in his first ultra, Humpy is as excited as any rookie to begin his ultramarathon cycling journey.
“I’ve been riding a bike consistently since I was ‘wee’,” reflected Harris. “But this is my first true test of endurance in the saddle.”
Generously stocked with provisions, the shining truck’s open bed was packed tightly with everything a cyclist could want or need. The Humpback Whale’s crew was ready to give their all in support of their rider’s cause. And with a finishing goal of 32 hours, Rob was ready to give the Furnace Creek 508 everything he had.
